It didn't take long for someone at CD Projekt Red to respond to The Chinese Room's "sexist" remark on Twitter. In the topic's thread on NeoGAF, Pawel Swierczynski, a lead developer on Wild Hunt came forward to respond with the following.
CDProjekt RED, company of 370 employees, a lot from around the world, many women (brilliant and talented) but also minorities: gay, transsexual (we might have been one of the few companies who had transsexual lead), all treated equally with only respect and support.
But we`re called sexist for showing a boob or panties. Really?
We always aimed to tell stories about people. And there are people with boobs and people with panties. Sometimes both.
This is by no means an official statement from CD Projekt Red as Swierczynski adds "this is my personal opinion and not of my employer".
This is not the first time that The Chinese Room has gone after a big time developer over claims of sexism either. The studio's Creative Director, Dan Pinchbeck recently wrote an article in GamesTM that compared the depiction of Quiet in Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain to Nazi propaganda.
He said the following:
“Let’s transform Quiet (or that quite extraordinary opening shot down the front of a nurse’s dress, just before she gets strangled by another woman who then gets set on fire) into a non-white character – I’m sure you can come up with a racist stereotype to drop in there. And what if the villain was, say, a hook-nosed Jewish banker who eats babies, in the spirit of old Nazi propaganda? Hell, what if NPCs just shouted out racial slurs occasionally? Still a game of the year contender?”
Suffice it to say, The Chinese Room sure is an opinionated bunch considering they are willing to broach very sensitive gender politics on their official Twitter account.
With 25 characters, various multiplayer modes, and story missions there is a lot to learn about Battleborn and what it truly means to be a badass.
Battleborn has quite a bit of content to a lot to take in and even more to learn. The team behind Battleborn knows that and decided to make a 12 minute long video to tell people what they are doing and why they are doing it. They show everything players needs to know. It's really handy!
The open beta for Battleborn has just started on Playstation 4 while PC and Xbox One players will get to join the chaos on April 13.
Battleborn will launch May 3 on Playstation 4, Xbox One, PC.
Former President of Rockstar Leslie Benzies is now suing the company for over $150 million in unpaid royalties he says are owed to him after he was allegedly forced out from the company after taking a sabbatical.
Benzies took a sabbatical from the company beginning in September of 2014 which ended in reports of him leaving the company this past January. Benzies is stating he was forced to leave the company and was ordered to leave the company's office when he tried to return to work on April 1, 2015. Attorneys for Benzies are stating the following:
"While on sabbatical, Mr. Benzies discovered numerous deceptions on the part of Take-Two, Rockstar, Rockstar North Ltd, Sam Houser and Dan Houser, who sought to force him out of the company and terminate his portion of royalty payments based upon arbitrary actions by the company's royalty Allocation Committee, a committee that may or may not have actually ever met."
Current President Strauss Zelnick commented on a conference call about Benzies' departure only by saying, "I can confirm that Leslie Benzies went on sabbatical in September of 2014," Zelnick said, according to a transcript of the call. "He's decided not to return to Rockstar Games."
We'll have to see how this plays out, as Rockstar is also undergoing the ridiculous lawsuit by Lindsey Lohan currently. What do you think about this? Let us know below. It is one huge GTA V bounty though that's for sure.
Can anything else go wrong with Uncharted 4? After all of the delays and copies sold early on E-bay, we now have a stolen shipment of an unknown amount of copies.
Shuhei Yoshida announced the news on the PlayStation blog without specifying the amount of copies stolen, but did indicate that there is an ongoing criminal investigation. Yoshida indicated that
We have some unfortunate news to report that a number of copies ofUncharted 4: A Thief’s End were stolen while in transit. While we are continuing to work with the police to resolve the matter – which is the subject of an ongoing criminal investigation – it appears that a few copies of the game have surfaced in the UK.
Uncharted 4 will release on May 10th exclusively on PS4, but be sure to stay clear of the internet for the next two weeks or so if you are worried about spoilers. You've been warned.
Batman v Superman was pretty much hated by the majority of critics on all fronts. One thing all the critics could agree on was the amazing performance of Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne and his counterpart, Batman.
Rumors have been brewing for months that Ben Affleck was being eyed to direct himself in a standalone Batman film (as well as act as Batman) coming in the near future, and more recently it has been said he even finished a complete first draft of the script! So, if that didn't pretty much confirm he was heavily involved with the process of the film, Warner Bros. has confirmed Ben Affleck will be directing the film adaptation of the caped crusader.
Today at CinemaCon, studio head at Warner Bros. Kevin Tsujihara officially confirmed the existence of the solo Batman film that will be directed by Ben Affleck. Ben Affleck isn't unfamiliar with acting as a director, Affleck has won Oscars for his creative contributions on films like Good Will Hunting and Argo. Hopefully, Affleck can create a film that rivals Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy.
In other DC news, Justice League Part One began filming today with Zack Snyder at the helm. If you can't wait to see more of Affleck in the shoes of The Dark Knight, you won't have to wait long. Ben Affleck will appear as Batman in Suicide Squad which releases in August and again in Justice League Part One releasing in November of next year.
Activision and Infinity Ward have been planning a new Call of Duty game for a while now and it looks like their plans have been revealed. A number of rumors circulating the game were revealed this week, including its title, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, as well as the fact that the game will ship with a copy of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare remastered.
While these have all been considered 'leaks,' Activision has all but confirmed it with a blazing neon sign that reads, "YES."
The official Call of Duty account responded to an excited Twitter user, essentially confirming the fact that the leaks were true.
Whether or not the Modern Warfare Trilogy that appeared on Amazon is real has not been confirmed.
Following the release of a major content update in The Division, players have reported suffering character wipes occurring after logging into their accounts. The issue was predominantly found among Xbox One owners, though some PlayStation users reported suffering from the bug as well.
According to Ubisoft, the developers have identified and fixed the source of the issue – which means that missing characters should be able to be correctly restored.
According to Ubisoft's Community Developer Yannick forum post, the issue was caused by the following:
"The issue was caused by a malfunctioning server that couldn’t synchronize character data correctly and corrupted them instead. The game client was unable to read this corrupted data, and simply assumed that the character didn’t exist. Once this has been identified, we were able to restore the server to its normal functions, thus ensuring that the issue will no longer occur for other player"
Yannick detailed that the missing characters are "not gone" and that a fix for the issue will be available shortly, though servers will be brought down in order to patch the fix in.
It is important to note that any progress made on accounts suffering from the missing character bug between April 12th and the next server maintenance will be lost. This only applies to players who have been affected by the bug.
Final Fantasy 15’s coveted Ultimate Collector’s Edition, which only saw 30 thousand copies printed, disappeared from the Square Enix store just minutes after its listing went live. Evidently, plenty of the edition’s copies went to scalpers, who have already begun reselling with steep mark-ups.
Several Ultimate Collector’s Editions have sold for as much as £420 (plus £30 shipping) in the UK. That’s about $650 U.S, approximately a 240 percent markup on the edition’s original $270 price tag.
One eBay seller has sold three editions for this price, which suggests scalpers were able to purchase multiple copies of the edition to resell. This led many outraged fans to fire on the Square Enix store’s regulations, and to demand action from Square itself.
In a statement to Eurogamer, Square Enix Europe provided a summary of tweets from FF15 Director Hajime Tabata addressing the shortage and scalpers.
“The people placing abnormal orders that suggest possible purchases for the purpose of reselling will be told that they will be dealt with severely in conformity with the agreement,” Tabata said.
Tabata added that Square is “currently investigating if there are ways we can somehow increase production.” Printing and selling additional copies of the edition would stunt its rarity, but also allow fans to pick up a copy of their own, not to mention dodge scalpers.
FF15’s Ultimate Collector’s Edition includes blu-ray versions of the newly announced Brotherhood anime and Kingsglaive movie, a steelbook case, large Play Arts Kai Noctis statue, 192-page art book, original OST and more.
The game’s $90 Deluxe Edition, meanwhile, includes the Kingslaive blu-ray, decorative case and in-game content. At the time of writing, PS4 and Xbox One Deluxe Editions are available for pre-order.
With all of the information from the Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV event the hype train has started going real fast. Unfortunately, for some the train came to a sudden stop.
At the event, a new demo for FFXV, the Platinum Demo, was revealed and is available for download for both Xbox and Playstation, but not for PC. Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata told Engadget that there currently is no PC version in development, but he acknowledges that many PC gamers wants FFXV on PC. Hajime Tabata said:
"Unfortunately we weren't able to do simultaneous development on a PC and console version for XV," he said. "We had to focus on the console version and our goal was to maximize, optimize everything for the HD consoles. Once that's done, then we will definitely take a good, hard look at PC and what we need to do, and consider all our options. But right now we aren't decided, we're still considering a lot of things."
The FFXV team focused really hard on making a high quality game for consoles that will both look and feel good, and for all we know, making a PC version could have delayed the game a few more years.
Final Fantasy XV comes out on consoles on September 30 worldwide.
Don't get angry, it's just a joke…kinda. Senior Video & Media Director Roland Smedberg fired a playful little salvo in the direction of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare over the Reveal Trailer that launched today.
What followed was a series of tweets with fans that took shots at the game's use of depth of field and lighting as well as a hint of something to come this Friday.
Apparently a lot of people took offense to the tweets (naturally), and they have since been removed from the account. Smedberg later clarified that his shots were "all in good fun".
Just my personal opinion mate, all in good fun. Friendly competition and all that 😉 https://t.co/AUZ4kb2Oyc

We can't wait to see what shots Infinity Ward has in store this Friday.
